Building for Growth: Extending GAP’s Derby Depot

GAPs Pump Division had plans to grow across the entire North of the UK and a depot extension in Derby was fundamental to realising that plan. The current depot had to remain open for business whilst the extension was under construction. JATA Designs got to work whilst JATA Construction starting planning temporary works measures and man movements to ensure as little disruption as possible to the day-to-day workings of the site.

The design brief included optimising depot floor space for housing equipment, with flooring that would withstand the weight of the machinery for the lifespan of the depot. In collaboration with Broadcliffe Architectural Fabrications, Earthy Metal Developments, GBC and SAM Construction, we built a 314 metre squared steel-framed structure to house multiple mechanical fitters workshops.

GAP were able to keep the existing live yard running smoothly throughout the build with our teams working around the clock to keep the timeframes as tight as possible and disruption to a minimum.
