After an eagle-eyed surveyor called out a potential partial chimney breast removal that was later proven to have disrupted the structural integrity of the building, lease-holder Charlotte Driscoll was left with a big hurdle to jump before she could sell her flat. JATA Designs supported Charlotte by working with the Structural Engineer and construction teams to get the engineering designs and build approved by Building Control within an incredibly tight timeframe.
“I had been living in the property for years with no idea there were any problems at all and after battling with the lease for almost a year, it was the last straw. I found myself totally out of my depth and with remedial costs mounting up.” – Charlotte
“Working with Building Control can be complicated when you’re not used to the terminology or the processes” explains Daniel Miller, “and if we can take some of that pain away, it’s magic.”
Daniel’s work, collaborating with a wider team, ensured that the flat could be sold and Charlotte was able to move into her dream property. As well as liaising with Building Control for sign-off on the remedial work to the chimney breast, JATA Designs supplied floorplans to rectify existing lease documentation for work that pre-dated Charlotte’s ownership.
“Unlike everyone else I was dealing with at the time, Daniel answered his emails immediately, explained everything to me in plain English and gave me the support I needed to get through what was a complete nightmare!”
