Revitalising History: JATA’s Modern Take on a Century-Old Home

JATA Construction and JATA Connections are meticulously transforming it into a grand residence fit for future generations of this large and growing family. By carefully deconstructing a portion of the original structure and expanding its footprint, we have doubled its size while retaining its distinctive character.

Every element that honoured the home’s rich legacy is being revitalised. A bifurcated staircase, reminiscent of grand estates and luxury hotels, accentuates the property’s timeless elegance with solid English oak, revered for its strength and beauty. The old oil system has been replaced by an energy-efficient and sustainable air source heat pump, which, combined with increasing the U-value of the property, keeps the family warm and cosy. A new solar PV installation now harnesses the Cornish sunlight, providing a sustainable and renewable energy source for the family.

Beyond aesthetics, the project was a celebration of family heritage, with Cornish granite and Welsh stone paying homage to the owners’ roots. English oak became a cornerstone of the design, with original wall panelling and traditional 2 column cast iron radiators reviving the property’s inherent spirit.

Repurposing an existing garage into an annex complete with a hot tub, adding a larch-clad pond-side office and self-contained flat above an impressive oak carport will add all the space the family needs. And swimming pool, basketball court and cinema room will keep the family relaxed and refreshed, spending precious quality time together.
