The GAP depot in Maidstone was bursting at the seams. With no room to expand outward, we were brought in to find space inside – without slowing the depot down. That meant rethinking the internals of the building while the place was still fully up and running. No easy task when you’re sharing access, yard space, and even workshop floors with a busy hire team…

We’ve worked with GAP for years, so we already understand how their depots run – how the teams move, what can’t be interrupted, and where the pressure points are.
That inside knowledge meant we could plan the job around their day-to-day operations without slowing them down. While the depot stayed fully open, we moved all personnel into two temporary buildings in the yard and got to work.
JATA Designs led the way, rethinking the layout to make better use of the building – redesigning the offices, canteen and toilets to free up more space for the workshop where it was really needed.
JATA Connections handled the plumbing, and Paul Steel Works took care of the electrics.
In just 10 weeks, we turned a cramped, overworked depot into a cleaner, more efficient space that’s now fit for the future.
GAP Maidstone stayed operational throughout, and now has better facilities, a more spacious workshop, and an all-round smoother layout that works harder for the team.
Massive shout out to everyone involved – from the GAP team for working alongside us, to all the crews on-site. Every division of JATA played a part in this one, and the result speaks for itself.
