Look Inside Truro’s New Landmark

Known for its charm and vibrancy, the Cathedral city of Truro is home to almost 19,000 residents. With Treliske Hospital on the outskirts, providing training services for future doctors and dentists, as well as its popularity with Cornish holiday makers, Truro is a logical location for new apartments. So, when R&D Developments decided to shake things up in Truro’s housing scene, JATA Construction was all in.

As main contractor and working closely with the design team, we engaged in value engineering to align both client requirements and regulations, ensuring aesthetic appeal, compliance, and cost-effectiveness. The result was a traditionally built, multistory apartment block boasting concrete floor planks, concrete block walls and rockwool insulation. We prioritised longevity, A-rated energy efficiency and fire safety whilst using the latest technology in renewable energy and security.

The set of 10 apartments has been designed to be visually stunning, with safety as a top priority. Flame-retardant mineral wool rain screen cladding has been used all over the building, following strict fire regulations set after the Grenfell tragedy. Available from July 2024, this project shows how teamwork and careful planning can create spectacular inner city living.
